Mars Highlights Efforts in Advancing Cocoa Research and More Sustainable Sourcing in Indonesia

Pangkep, 23 April 2025 – PT Mars Symbioscience Indonesia hosted a media visit at its Cocoa Research Station in Pangkep, South Sulawesi, providing insights into its work on addressing key challenges in Indonesia’s cocoa industry. Mars has established cocoa research stations in East Luwu (in 2012) and Pangkep (in 2017), focusing on Integrated Pest Management (IPM), breeding, soil health, and improving farm productivity.

The newly inaugurated Cocoa Advanced Research Laboratory (CARL) in Pangkep will play a key role in advancing agricultural research and developing technologies to support farmers. In addition, to help translate research into real-world, practical improvements, Mars has established a number of farmer education and support programs in Indonesia, including the Mars Cocoa Academy and the Cocoa Development Centers in Luwu Raya, South Sulawesi.

Mars emphasized that building a more resilient cocoa supply chain is essential for the company, the industry, and the livelihoods of cocoa farmers, aiming to create a modern, inclusive, and sustainable cocoa ecosystem.
