ACT! Project Encourages Bali’s Youth on Sustainable Consumption
Youth’s lifestyle regarding coffee, tea, cocoa, and palm oil products for safeguarding our environment
Bali, 11 December 2025 – Accelerating Consumer Transformation and Sustainability in Indonesia or ACT! Project, collaborated with Narasi Academy to raise the youth’s awareness regarding sustainable consumption through “Narasi and ACT! Project go to Campus” at the Faculty of Tourism, Udayana University, Bali. The current topic focuses on tea, coffee, cocoa, and palm oil.
ACT! Project is a consortium made up of Rainforest Alliance, Sustainable Coffee Platform of Indonesia (SCOPI), and Cocoa Sustainability Partnership (CSP), which was supported by the European Union through the EU-SWITCH Asia program. This initiative emphasizes the importance of consumer awareness of the environmental and social impact stemming from their consumption choices, especially from the upstream production and supply chain distribution.
Through mindful consumption, we can change the world into a better place – a simple conscious decision-making choice right when we are about to buy and consume daily products.
The event starts with an interactive game and then a workshop titled “Good Taste, Good Impact: Pilihan Konsumsi untuk Keberlanjutan Lingkungan”. The workshop starred a presentation by Marketing Practitioners and General Manager of Boemi Botanicals, Ribka Anastasia, and Marketing Manager APAC, Krakakoa, R.H. Pranata Koemadiredja.
“Sustainability is not a trend; It needs to be our way of life so that we can exist for generations to come. To Boemi Botanicals, certification is an effective mechanism to show consumers about commitment to use ingredients that are responsibly produced and from sustainable sources,” said Ribka.
In a similar tone to Ribka, Pranata also expresses the breakthrough from Krakakoa regarding sustainability. In a process called ‘Bean to Bar’, Krakakoa trained farmers to implement agroforestry and practice fair trade, with which Krakakoa purchases cocoa beans at a premium price. These two practices align with Krakakoa’s mission to fight poverty,” explained Pranata.
The second session is followed by a talk show with a theme “Konsumsi Kita Tanggung Jawab Siapa?” featuring Chief Creative Officer and also an Influencer, Jovial Da Lopez, and Manager Consumer Campaign and Engagement, Rainforest Alliance Indonesia, Margareth Meutia.
Margareth emphasized “through ACT! Project, we encourage consumers to be more critical when consuming various products. There are many criteria for certification to recognize whether the products are produced correctly or not. Considering the increasing population and consumers, our consumption pattern will have an impact on the environment and social life.”
Jovial also reminds that consumer awareness could prevent similar disasters that are happening in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. “This disaster is a moment for us to realize the adverse effects of our lifestyle and consumption choices,” he said.
Jovial continues, “Convenient and easy access to commodities causes overconsumption. It is of the utmost importance that we build our shared sense of care and responsibility within ourselves, especially when consuming various products. What we consume, where the source of the product is, and how the product is made, are the things that we have to consciously ask before consuming any products.”
“Narasi and ACT! Project Go to Campus” in Bali is the second campus activation, which intends to encourage Indonesian youth’s sustainable consumption and was attended by 150 participants. Previously, a similar event was held in Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, on 17 October 2025. The collaboration between ACT! Project and Narasi started in Jogja Coffee Week 2025 on 5 – 7 September 2025, which also featured Jovial Da Lopez.
