CSP Reports Sustainable Cocoa Development Plans in Indonesia to the Minister Deputy of Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs

Jakarta, December 06, 2021—The establishment a condition of sustainable cocoa sector in Indonesia is the collective responsible of stakeholders who actively participate in these efforts. And Cocoa Sustainability Partnership, as platform who gathers all stakeholders in coordinating their initiatives in improving the national cocoa productivity and quality, establishes coomunication and cooperation that provide mutual benefits for the engaged stakeholders. Its main objective is to improve the welfare of smallholder cocoa farmers community.

One of the activities is bridging the communication with related government institutions in cocoa sector. And the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affair is one of significant partners of CSP. And in doing so, CSP with the representatives of its members met the Deputy of Food and Agribusiness Coordination, Dr. Ir. Musdhalifah Machmud, M.T., at Ali Wardhana Building, Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Jakarta, December 06, 2021.

Wahyu Wibowo, the Executive Director of CSP, with Fay Fay Choo and Jeffrey Haribowo of PT. Mars Incorporated, Chandra Panjiwibowo of Rainforest Alliance, and Nassat Idris of Yayasan Inisiatif Dagang Hijau, reported some progresses in accordance to the initiatives of development of sustainable cocoa sector in Indonesia.

In its planning, CSP will conduct General Assembly Meeting on December 16, 2021, with the main theme is to discuss the efforts in improving national cocoa productivity through landscape frameworks in sustainable global market. In this annual meeting, there are also two initiatives of CSP members that will be launched. The initiatives are the soil moisture-based insurance for smallholder cocoa farmers, and a digital application of sustainable cocoa cultivation training with augmented reality and virtual reality features.

Moreover, CSP also delivered the planning in implementing the landscape frameworks in cocoa sector, and how CSP and its members respond the policies of European Union as concern for cocoa producing countries, particularly Indonesia. (CSP/AH)
